“Feeding the 5,000; What God can do!”
Matthew 14:1-21

I. God is able to work beyond our difficult circumstances

Consider Jesus’ circumstance:
1. John the Baptist had just died (a dreadful death) - Matthew 14:6-11
2. He wanted to get away alone (His disciples did also) - Matthew 14:12-13
3. Crowds were following Him (needy crowds) - Matthew 14:13-14 4. He taught and healed all day

Our own circumstance
1. A terrible hurricane has struck our community
2. Some of us have been impacted dramatically
3. We are surrounded by needy people
4. We are called to teach and help

II. God is able to work beyond our limited resources
1. Jesus calls us to reach out to a hurting multitude – Matthew 14:16-17
2. God is not limited by our limitations – Hebrews 11:3; 2 Kings 4:1-7; John 6:35

III. God is able to work beyond us
1. Beyond our weaknesses – Isaiah 40:28-31; 1 Corinthians 1:26-31
2. Beyond our lack of faith – Exodus 4:11
3. Beyond our sin – Jonah 1:1-4
