“How People Respond to Christ / How We Should Respond to Them!”
John 7:1-53

I. How do people respond to Christ?
1. With hatred – John 7:1 & 6
2. With unbelief – John 7:5
3. With murmuring uncertainty – John 7:12
4. With fear of His enemies – John 7:13
5. With awe at His teaching – John 7:15; 45-46
6. With accusations – John 7:20
7. With questions – John 7:25-27; 41b-42
8. Some sought to take Him but could not – John 7:30; :32;
9. Many believed on Him – John 7:31; :40-41
10. By fighting with each other – John 7:43
11. By insulting those who believe – John 7:47-49
12. By urging further inquiry – John 7:50-51
13. With certainty they already had the answer – John 7:52
14. By leaving – John 7:53

II. How should we respond to them?
Like Christ did:
1. Strategically – John 7:6-10
2. Dependently, like an Ambassador – John 7:16-18
3. Truthfully – John 7:19; :28-29
4. With good instruction – John 7:22-24
5. Boldly – John 7:25-26
6. In ways that make people think – John 7:33-36
7. With great and gracious invitations – John 7:37-41
Like one of His first followers did – John 7:50-51
1. He opened His mouth in the midst of doubters
2. He referred to the law in an effort to take Christ’s side
3. He urged they hear Christ further

Lastly, we do all of this with dependence upon the Holy Spirit – John 7:37-38; John 6:63
