Morning Sermon Outline
“The One Wonderful WORD: Jesus Christ”
John 1:1-5; John 1:14

Introduction: John presents Jesus as the Word, the Logos (Logos). The great communication from God, God’s Wisdom, the Amen, and the Truth! This Word speaks loudly to a world which no longer believes in truth, in right or wrong, good or bad, etc.

WE need to know the great importance of Christ to our lives, we do this:

I. By realizing that Jesus as the Word is a Superior Communication –
1. In comparison to all other kinds of communication
2. Wholly different than any other communication we know, Jesus is God!
3. According to the Jews, the Word spoke all things into being, God was known by His Word
4. According to the Greeks, the Word (Logos) was the Source of all order in the universe, the Mind of God!

II. By realizing that Jesus as the Word is the Creative Power of God –
1. We should see His work in creation – Genesis 1
2. We should realize as Creator Jesus is an Authority, THE AUTHORITY on our lives!

III. By realizing that Jesus as the Word is Eternal -
1. “In the beginning” Jesus was there, we were not
2. “In the beginning was the Word”

IV. By realizing that Jesus as the Word is our Light and Life –
1. As the Word He speaks to our greatest needs, Light because we are in darkness, Life because we are dead!
2. Yet, He not only speaks to these needs but provides for them

V. By realizing that Jesus as the Word is God in our language –
1. John 1:14 “the Word was made flesh”
2. It is the spiritual aspects of Jesus we should seek to know
3. It is the spiritual aspects of Jesus that tell us about God, “full of grace and truth”

VI. Application:
1. If you do not know Jesus or do not know Him well, you need to know Him or know Him better –
2. Note the Gospel of John was written for this purpose – John 20:31
3. If you already know Christ well, there is depth in this Holy Book for the best of us, beyond the best of us!
4. For those who desire to spread the Word, note, the power is in the Word, not in the methods or means of spreading! Yet it is worthy of our best!
