“The First Blessing / Command: Be Fruitful and Multiply”
Genesis 1:22 & 28

Since, I have started preaching from Genesis, I have noticed a couple other preachers doing the same. They are preaching against evolution! I believe now that evolution is being proved wrong scientifically, we will see more preachers attacking this issue fiercely, like hungry sharks attack bloody injured prey! Praise God science is coming around to truth!

I. The truth that God has designed us (and all the animals) to reproduce (be fruitful and multiply) militates against the lie that all things came about through matter, time and chance as evolution teaches –
1. Our anatomy, especially our reproductive anatomy, shows strong evidence of design, we are fearfully and wonderfully made – Psalm 139:14
2. Men and women have complimentary symmetrical anatomy perfectly designed for reproduction; there is something like a key to a keyhole fit between the male and female of each species.
3. The key / keyhole analogy is good as God has so made His creatures that the only key that fits a human woman is a human man, the only key fit for a female cat is a male cat, etc, etc … species do not cross breed but breed according to “kind” - Genesis 1:21; 24-25
4. Additionally, the difference is more than skin, fur, scales or feathers deep, the difference between species is chromosome level deep. A toad has 11 chromosomes, a cat 19, a dog 39, a rhesus monkey 21, a potato 24 and a human being 23; these have to be the same in the male and female to reproduce.

This makes things difficult (actually impossible) for evolutionary theory, as they believed that one creature evolved or changed from another, by chance mutations. Reproductive changes (mutations) are more difficult as mutational change in the male’s reproductive system would have to have a simultaneous symmetrical complimentary change in the female. If you change the key, you have to change the lock or you do not get in. This creates great problems for the pond scum, fish, fish with legs, half – mouse, mammal, ape, man crowd!

II. The truth that God desires, commands and blesses us to be fruitful and multiply militates against the opposite of being fruitful and multiplying, being fruitful and NOT multiplying: abortion, euthanasia, the entire death culture – Proverbs 16:25
Scripture throughout supports the idea that children are a blessing: The Bible presents children as unqualified blessings from God - Psalm 127:3-5, Genesis 17:2; Genesis 17:20; 1 Samuel 2:20; Hebrews 6:14
This is the truth even in modern America –
In a January 1989 article in World Magazine E. Calvin Beisner provided the following statistics --
“You know how the magazines love to tell you how much it costs to raise a child? Well, consider these statistics. The average person will represent a combined liability or economic cost, of $192,600 during his first 18 years plus his lifetime after retirement at age 65. But the same person will occasion the production, directly or indirectly, of goods and services worth, if a male, $55,277 per year, or, if a female, $26,680 per year, from age 18 to 65. This means the average male occasions the production of $2,598,000 worth of goods and services during his lifetime and the average female will occasion the production of $1,253,960 worth of goods and services in her lifetime. This means the average male’s net worth to society ... will be $2,405,400, and the average female’s $1,061,300 ... figuring solely on the basis of measurable income, not including the tremendous value of the unpaid work people - especially woman - perform at home.”

What do these stats say to our current and future problems concerning social security? These problems are due to a lack of young people, due to birth control and abortion, as much as they are by the increased health of the aged, yet you will never hear it – ultimately many would rather keep abortion and eventually do away with our elderly through euthanasia!

III. The truths connected to Genesis 1:28 speak against the idea of “let go and let wild” promoted by radical environmentalists!
1. Note God commands birds, fish and humans to be fruitful and multiply, does it mean anything that God does not expressly give this command to land animals?
2. A land overrun by WILDERNESS is the judgment of God upon a sinful people – Isaiah 13:19-22
3. We are called to a careful dominion over nature, under God – Genesis 1:28
